Description
2018 Cabernet Franc VQA
Cabernet Franc – one of the world’s great wine grapes. It is half of the parentage of the (wonderful) grape variety Cabernet Sauvignon (the other half of the parentage is Sauvignon Blanc). We were told that it wouldn’t grown in this part of Ontario – it is too cold and wet here…. Well we disagree and we like this wine grape so much that we just planted another acre of it – now we just have to wait 8 years, but that’s another story.
Tasting notes for this wine:
This medium bodied garnet coloured wine has round tannins, low acidity and leather on the palate, with a long soft smooth finish. It has a lovely spicey, earthy, cigar box and tobacco nose with aromas of wild ripe strawberries, violets, jammy red fruits, baking spices, pepper, and soft smoke. This is a Cowboy wine, and will be a great accompaniment to a ploughman’s lunch, pate, duck in a blackberry compote, Rosemary pork loin, blue cheeses or just on its own.
