September 16, 2016 (PLYMPTON-WYOMING, ON)

Alton Farms Estate Winery, Lambton County’s only Grape Winery located at 5547 Aberarder Line Plympton Wyoming, is hosting Lambton County’s First Annual Grape Stomp on Sunday September 25th – starting at noon.  The first Stomp will take place at 2:00 and we will stomp as needed until 6:00.

Looking for a chance to have a little fun and share in the grape Harvest this year?  Bring out your friends and have a competitive stomp.  We will have a kids stomp as well.

Timed trials will determine the most productive stomper.  The stomper who produces the most juice, will win wine (what else could the prize be?).

Entry fee is $5 – all fees to be donated to the wildlife charity, Bluewater Raptor Rehabilitation Centre.  We need the raptors to keep the grape eating monsters (ie. birds) under control, so please donate to a good cause.

We are not sure which of our grapes will be ready for stomping, but we will let you know when you come here.  They will be our grapes from our vineyard.

Loretta and Anne will also be offering some yummy cupcakes made with wine.

We are expecting some exciting guests to appear around 2:30, so don’t miss out.

At this event, the Winery will also be doing a pre-release tasting of its latest wine, a lovely, fruity Gamay Noir.  This wine is expected to be out for your Thanksgiving dinners.

The Gamay Noir wine has the following tasting notes:

This light, easy drinking ruby red wine, has a refreshing acidity, is fruity with aromas of wild strawberry and cherry jello on the nose, and cranberry on the palate.   This is a picnic basket wine, and will be a great accompaniment to a ploughman’s lunch, pork roast, dried fruit and nuts, Turkey dinner or just on its own.

Alton Farms Estate Winery has been selling wine for over three years from the store at the Estate Winery at 5547 Aberarder Line in Plympton Wyoming.  With the introduction of a VQA line of wines late in 2015, Alton Farms is pushing to increase sales by selling at local farmer’s markets and restaurants.  So far three farmer’s markets, Grand Bend, Petrolia and Point Edward, are hosting the winery.  16 restaurants in the local area have started featuring the wines and are featured on the Winery website.
